Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley

I actually read Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley some time ago, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.  There is much to think about in this book that weaves together multiple story lines and ponders the big questions of life.  Why does a brother disappear while a previously extinct bird reappears?  Why does the same message lead one person to hope and another to despair?  Can you ever truly leave home and come back again?

Besides the questions that still echo through my brain, I want to leave you with this book trailer that captures the eerie oddness of this story with all its beauty and cracks.

It certainly gave me a lot to think about. It’s still sitting on the chalk tray in my room.

It must be pretty good–it won lots of awards last year. It’s still on the chalk tray if you’re interested.
