WOW! Look how much we’ve read so far…

I didn’t get the totals done before Christmas break, but the numbers are tallied up now.  I am impressed.  I had no idea we could read so much together, but you guys are awesome readers.  I bet most of you have surprised yourself with what you have read this year.  Drum roll, please……

For the grand total,

128 students (I’ve lost a few and a few of you didn’t keep track–you know who you are)

have read 1,660 books!   That’s an average of almost 13 books per student!

Here are the totals and averages broken down by class period:

  • 2nd period:  30 students have read 506 books for an average of 16.7 books per student.  One student read 37 books and two others read 36 books.
  • 3rd period:  26 students have read 362 books for an average of 13.9 books per student.  One student read 43 books and another read 31 books.
  • 5th period:  29 (out of 30) students read 314 books for an average of 10.8 books per student.  One student read 31 books and another read 30 books.
  • 6th period:  20 students read 241 books for an average of 12.1 books per student.  The top two readers read 28 and 27 books apiece.
  • 7th period:  23 (out of 27 students) read 237 books for an average of 10.3 books per student.  The top reader read 43 books.  The second top reader read 27 books.
I’ve been reading, too.  For the calendar year, I finished 164 books.  During August – December I read 62 books.  What has been your favorite book you’ve read this year?
